Convert DD/MM/YYYY CSV dates without guessing
03/04/2026 can mean 3 April or 4 March. Neither interpretation can be determined from that cell alone. A date conversion tool should ask for the source format rather than guess from your browser or computer locale.
A practical check
- Confirm the source system’s date format. If it is unknown, keep the column as text.
- Select DD/MM/YYYY or MM/DD/YYYY explicitly. Review rows with a day greater than 12 and an ambiguous day/month pair.
- Resolve invalid calendar dates, then export normalized YYYY-MM-DD text.
Example
Input: 03/04/2026 DD/MM/YYYY selected → 2026-04-03 MM/DD/YYYY selected → 2026-03-04 31/02/2026 → invalid date
Know the scope
TableSafe validates the calendar date and blocks the export if any chosen conversion fails. It keeps normalized dates as ISO text so the output remains unambiguous. Numeric columns have their own explicit decimal-separator setting; grouping separators are rejected. The tool does not automatically repair ambiguous dates, malformed rows or mixed locale formats.
